Fine linear details and delicate looping ornaments follow the movement of the stripes, creating a rhythmic pattern with a distinctly Early Victorian character.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003eOmbré in 1840s fashion\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOmbré textiles became particularly fashionable during the first half of the nineteenth century. The French terms \u003cem\u003eombré\u003c\/em\u003e, \u003cem\u003eirisé\u003c\/em\u003e and \u003cem\u003efondu\u003c\/em\u003e were used for shaded colours that appeared to melt gradually from light to dark.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThese colour transitions were admired for giving printed and woven fabrics greater depth and movement.
