Product Description

This elegant Regency-inspired silk fabric design is based on an original French cotton dress dated 1805–1810 from the Empire and Regency period. The pattern features delicate golden botanical motifs and small dotted details arranged across a soft white ground, creating a light, refined, and luminous early 19th-century appearance.

The design is printed on smooth and shiny 100% Silk Chiffon, giving the fabric an exceptionally soft drape, gentle transparency, and elegant movement. When layered over a white, cream, ivory, pale gold, or other light underdress, the white silk chiffon creates a beautifully airy and graceful effect, especially suitable for Regency ball gowns and flowing Empire silhouettes.

At the moment, the order quantity is 8 meters of Silk Chiffon. The fabric width is 140 cm.

This fabric is especially suitable for Regency evening gowns, Empire dresses, white ball gowns, layered historical evening wear, sheer overdresses, bridal-inspired historical gowns, historical shawls, decorative sleeves, theatre costumes, and luxurious museum-inspired sewing projects.

Well suited for

– Regency ball gowns and Empire dresses
– White historical evening gowns
– Layered silk chiffon overdresses
– Bridal-inspired Regency gowns
– Sheer sleeves, shawls, and decorative overlays
– Theatre costumes and reenactment clothing
– Museum-inspired sewing projects
– Luxurious doll clothes and miniature garments

Design & Historical Context

The original dress belongs to the refined fashion world of the Napoleonic and Regency era, when lightweight fabrics, delicate motifs, and flowing silhouettes became central elements of fashionable dress. Small repeating botanical ornaments such as these were especially effective on garments designed for movement, transparency, and layered textile effects.

This reinterpretation transforms the original historical motif into an elegant white and gold silk textile suitable for graceful Regency evening wear. Combined with a light fabric underneath, the transparent chiffon creates a soft, luminous, and refined effect associated with neoclassical elegance and early 19th-century ball fashion.
