Collection: 1300s Fabric Design
Printed fabrics in the 1300s were quite rare but did exist, primarily through woodblock printing. This technique, which had been used in Asia for centuries, began appearing in Europe around the 12th century and became more common by the 14th century.
During this time, textiles were often decorated with stamped or block-printed designs, particularly on linen and cotton fabrics. These prints were typically ornamental patterns or religious motifs, used for clothing, wall hangings, and church textiles. Some of the earliest surviving examples of printed textiles in Europe date back to the late 14th century, found in places like Nuremberg, Germany.
