Product Description
This historical cotton fabric design is inspired by an original French cotton dress dated 1805–1810 from the Regency and Empire period. The pattern features small golden botanical motifs and dotted details arranged across a soft white ground, creating a light, elegant, and refined early 19th-century appearance.
This white and gold colourway gives the design a graceful and luminous character, making it especially suitable for Regency gowns, Empire dresses, round gowns, men’s waistcoats, historical vests, theatre costumes, doll clothes, decorative accessories, and museum reproduction sewing. The small repeat keeps the design delicate and historically versatile.
Well suited for

Design & Historical Context
The original dress is a French cotton gown dated 1805–1810 and belongs to the refined fashion world of the Napoleonic and Regency period. During this time, lightweight cotton fabrics with small repeating motifs were used for elegant gowns, fashionable daywear, and evening dress, often combining simplicity of cut with decorative textile detail.
This design has been reinterpreted as a white Regency-style fabric with golden botanical motifs. The pale ground gives the textile a softer and more delicate expression, while the gold-coloured ornament adds a refined decorative quality suitable for both women’s historical dress and men’s waistcoats.
