Product Description

A beautiful recreation of an 18th-century Swedish block-printed cotton, featuring winding lace ribbons surrounded by colourful carnations, delicate blossoms and green foliage.

The rich floral composition reflects the elegance of 18th-century silk brocades, while the warm Ivory Silk background gives the design a softer, lighter appearance.

Originally associated with a woman's historical costume from Blekinge, Sweden, this distinctive pattern combines traditional Swedish textile heritage with the decorative richness of European Rococo fashion.

Suggested Uses

  • 18th-century gowns, jackets and petticoats

  • Swedish folk costumes and historical aprons

  • Curtains, bed hangings and decorative furnishings

  • Historical textile reconstruction projects

  • Rococo-inspired interiors

Historical Background

The original textile is preserved in a Swedish museum collection and is described as a block-printed calico (kattun) on fine, unbleached cotton.

Its original colour scheme featured a dark black-purple ground with winding red and white lace ribbons, pink and red carnations, and smaller flowers in blue, brown and purple.

The surviving fragment measures 42.5 × 35 cm and retains traces of its original glazed finish.

According to the museum documentation, the fabric originated from a woman's costume in Blekinge, Sweden.
