Product Description

This historical cotton voile fabric is inspired by early 19th-century embroidery patterns and decorative Regency-era textile aesthetics around 1800. The design features elegant golden floral border vines combined with delicate botanical motifs arranged across a soft ivory-white background, creating a refined appearance associated with the Regency and Empire period.

The pattern was created using original early 1800s embroidery references and adapted into a lightweight historical border fabric suitable for Regency gowns, Empire dresses, historical interiors, and museum reproduction sewing. The warm gold and ivory colour palette reflects the understated elegance fashionable during the Napoleonic era.

Well suited for

Ideal for Regency gowns, Empire dresses, round gowns, transitional fashion c.1790–1800, reenactment clothing, fichus, chemisettes, historical interiors, theatre costumes, and historical sewing projects.

The fabric is printed lengthwise, with the decorative border placed along one of the long sides of the textile. Cotton voile is approximately 140 cm wide, so please measure under your bust before ordering to ensure sufficient width for your gown construction.

Recommended fabric lengths:
– Dresses with short sleeves: approximately 4 metres
– Dresses with long sleeves: approximately 5 metres

Design & Historical Context

During the Regency period, delicate embroidered motifs, narrow floral borders, and lightweight cotton textiles became increasingly fashionable throughout Europe. Inspired by neoclassical taste, textile patterns often featured elegant botanical forms arranged with airy spacing and refined symmetry.

Lady Whistledown Quinn is a fictional Regency-inspired character created for today’s historical fashion enthusiasts. The character reflects a modern interpretation of Regency culture — where historical aesthetics meet contemporary life through synthetic corset boning, hair extensions, electric lighting, and modern transportation while still preserving the romantic atmosphere of the early 19th century.
