1625 Marie de Rohan

The inspiration for this historical fabric design comes from an early 17th-century bed cover embroidered in monochrome wool in a pinkish-red tone. The original pattern belongs to the decorative world of the early 1600s, where richly ornamented textiles played an important role in both domestic interiors and ceremonial display.

The main design extends across the entire surface in a continuous scrolling pattern inspired by Elizabethan ornament. Each elegant scroll ends in a pair of flowers, creating a rhythmic and balanced composition characteristic of the period.

In this recreation, the original design has been reimagined in blue while preserving the proportions and visual movement of the source. The scrolls measure approximately 12–15 cm, maintaining the scale and decorative impact of the historical piece.

This fabric is suitable for historical interiors, costume projects, and sewing inspired by the late 16th and early 17th centuries.

Cotton Panama Natural comes with a natural white background.

Marie de Rohan historical inspiration

This design is dedicated to Marie de Rohan

Marie de Rohan, Duchess of Chevreuse, was a French courtier and political figure born in December 1600. She became known for her intelligence, charm, and strong will, and she played a remarkable role in the political intrigues of the French court during the reign of Louis XIII.

She was closely involved in the power struggles of her time and was a determined opponent of Cardinal Richelieu and later Cardinal Mazarin. Because of her political activities, she was exiled several times, yet remained one of the most memorable and influential women of her generation.
