1790s Day Dress Print

This bold floral pattern is inspired by late 18th-century cottons used in everyday gowns of the 1790s. Featuring stylized red flowers with dark blue centers on a delicately dotted white ground, the design reflects the period’s shift toward stronger contrasts and simplified motifs. Perfect for recreating historical garments or adding a touch of Georgian charm to modern projects, this print captures the confident elegance of the late 18th century.

Dorothea von Schlözer (1770–1825) was a German scholar who broke barriers in an age when universities were closed to most women. At just seventeen, in 1787, she earned a doctorate in philosophy from the University of Göttingen — making her one of the very first women in Germany to receive such a degree. Brilliant and versatile, she mastered languages, history, and the natural sciences, leaving a legacy as a trailblazer for women’s higher education.
