18th-Century Floral Dress Fabric – Historic Swedish Design on Black Ground (1730–1749)

Product Description

This striking floral design is inspired by an 18th-century Swedish printed pattern, characterised by large-scale blossoms, curling leaves, and elegant trailing stems. Set against a deep black ground, the warm red florals and cool blue accents create a dramatic yet refined contrast typical of high-quality European cotton prints from the mid-1700s.

The composition is bold, rhythmic, and highly decorative, making it particularly well suited for full-length dresses where the pattern can be appreciated at scale.

This design works beautifully for:

  • Robe à l’anglaise and other 18th-century gowns
  • Historic costumes and living history garments
  • Statement dresses requiring strong period presence

Elsa Sofia Gyllenstierna af Lundholm (b. 1705) is known primarily through her marriage to Reinhold Gustaf Toll. Little documented information about her personal life has been preserved.
