1780s Floral Waistcoat Panel
Product Description
This 18th-century inspired waistcoat panel is designed with a deep black ground and a decorative floral border. The layout is mirrored at the centre, allowing both front sides of the waistcoat to be cut with matching pattern placement.
The panel includes small floral details that can be used for covered fabric buttons, as well as a fine leafy border suitable for creating an elegant front edge. The design is made for projects where symmetry, placement, and historical character are important.
Well suited for
Waistcoats, historical menswear, theatrical costume, 18th-century inspired garments, covered fabric buttons, front edging, and decorative details where a black floral panel gives strong visual definition.
Design & Historical Context
The design is inspired by late 18th-century chintz textiles, where floral motifs and decorative borders were often used to support garment construction. Waistcoat panels allowed the ornament to be placed deliberately, creating balanced fronts, decorative edges, and coordinated details.
This version adapts that idea into a practical panel format, with mirrored placement and smaller motifs intended for buttons and finishing elements.
