1820s Cotton Print – Teal Floral Vine Pattern

Product Description

Inspired by an original circa 1820 day dress sold at Kerry Taylor Auctions in London, this elegant early 19th-century print features delicate teal-blue floral blossoms combined with scrolling wine-red grasses and graceful trailing botanical vines arranged across a soft light ground. The flowing composition reflects the refined simplicity typical of fashionable English roller-printed cottons from the Regency period.

The airy layout and restrained palette of teal blue, warm brown, wine-red, and soft cream create a light and sophisticated appearance characteristic of elegant cotton dress fabrics from the 1820s. Fine curling stems, dotted botanical details, and elongated floral movement naturally complement gathered gowns, fitted bodices, and soft Regency silhouettes.

This reproduction captures the quiet elegance of transitional Regency fashion, where lightweight printed cottons were widely used for day dresses, wrappers, informal gowns, and delicate outerwear. The design combines historical authenticity with timeless decorative softness suitable for both historical and modern sewing projects.

Perfect for:

  • 1820s gathered day dresses and wrappers
  • Empire-line gowns and Regency silhouettes
  • Regency back-closing gowns (c. 1815–1825)
  • Spencer jackets and lightweight Regency outerwear
  • Aprons and historical accessories
  • Banyans and informal historical robes
  • Elegant summer dresses and decorative interiors
