Fredrika Charlotta Runeberg, born Tengström on September 2, 1807 in Jakobstad, was a Finnish (Finland-Swedish) novelist and journalist, known for being a pioneer of Finnish historical fiction and one of the first woman journalists in Finland. She was mainly recognized during her time as the wife of the famous poet Johan Ludvig Runeberg. Fredrika Runeberg lived most of her life in Porvoo, where she produced most of her works, including the historical novel “Fru Catharina Boije och hennes döttrar” (1858). She wrote in Swedish and was the first Finnish author to critically analyze the status of women in society.
