Living History Costume Fabric Development
Custom fabric selection and development for historical costume use in a museum environment.
Project – Priest’s Wife Costume, Mid-18th Century
I have supported Enscen Design & Production in selecting and refining fabrics for summer museum guiding at Carl von Linné’s birthplace in Råshult. The project focuses on creating a historically grounded costume for a priest’s wife from the mid-18th century.
The garment is designed for outdoor use in a living historical environment, requiring a balance between visual authenticity, durability, and comfort during extended wear.

Fabric Development
My role has been to guide the textile selection and refine colour balance to ensure the fabric aligns with both historical references and practical use. The chosen design allows for combination with multiple garment elements while maintaining a cohesive visual expression.
- Fabric selection and colour adjustment
- Balancing historical accuracy with functionality
- Creation of a dedicated collection and quotation

About the Location – Råshult
Råshult, the birthplace of Carl von Linné, is a preserved cultural environment where historical life is interpreted through guided experiences. The setting places strong demands on costume and material choices, as garments must function both visually and practically within an authentic historical landscape.
