Inspiration to this design: I have from Robe à la Polonaise , dated 1780 and there are copies of the design in several museums.
This design I have called as a "Modern Coloured" version of the classic design where I have reduced the yellow colours and tried to give the design more harmonious finish.

The Original Dress is made of silk Taffeta with hand painted floral motives, so the Chosen Fabric is Silk Dupion of course, but the dress could be nice even in Cotton Voile. It is more important to sew double, to use a supporting lining to get the volume.

This fabric is dedicated to Dorothea (sometimes Dorothy or Dora) Jordan.
She was a comic actress, born to an Irish father and Welsh mother and spent her childhood in Dublin and Wales. Already the mother of five children, in 1790 she became the mistress of the Duke of Clarence, afterwards William IV. The relationship, which was a very happy one, produced ten children.
