Product Description

This 18th-century inspired textile design is presented in a refined teal blue tone, offering a calm yet distinctive expression for historical dressmaking. The colour gives the pattern depth while keeping the balanced rhythm and decorative structure associated with late 18th-century textile aesthetics.

The design is based on textile samples collected for educational and commercial study during the 18th century. Such samples helped document how patterns, colours and materials were studied, traded and reproduced across Europe, making this design especially relevant for historically inspired garments and interpretation work.

Well suited for

Well suited for banyans, waistcoats, jackets, linings, men’s 18th-century garments, historical accessories, museum interpretation, reenactment clothing, theatre costume and historically inspired sewing projects where a structured yet elegant colour expression is desired.

Design & Historical Context

The inspiration for this design comes from a textile sample collection assembled by Anders Berch (1711–1774), professor of economics in Uppsala. His collection brought together fabric samples from European trading houses and was used to teach students about materials, production methods, trade and textile quality.
