The 18th-century woman’s cape from France is dated between 1780 and 1790.The cape is made from cotton plain weave fabric that has been printed, reflecting the textile techniques and aesthetic preferences of late 18th-century France.
The center back length of this woman’s cape measures approximately 46 3/4 inches (118.75 cm). Such dimensions indicate that it was designed to provide ample coverage while also being stylish.
Marie-Madeleine Guimard, bor n in 1743, was a famous ballerina at the Paris Opera during Louis XVI's reign. Her 30-year career was marked by graceful and expressive performances, earning her praise from audiences and critics. Despite facing challenges such as smallpox, she remained popular and also gained fame as a courtesan, known for her lavish lifestyle and relationships with influential figures. She eventually retired in 1789 after marrying dancer Jean-Étienne Despréaux. This information sheds light on her contributions to ballet and personal life during a pivotal time in French history.

Grandma's Laundry Tricks:
- Do not Brush, Rub or Scrub the printed fabrics too hard to avoid damage to print quality.
- Wash with similar colours to avoid staining or tint.
- Please do not overuse the centrifuge, it only wrinkles the fabric.
- Please do not overuse the dryer or use extrem heat, this only tears the fibres apart.
- A dehumidifier is a great invention to dry the fabrics and clothes.
- Dry the fabrics outdoors, if possible, but not under direct sunlight.
- Environmentally awareness and the durability of clothing go hand in hand.
- Do You really need to use the fabric softener or is white vinegar good enough?
